Jim Kuiken elected to Boards of Directors of both the Builders Association of the Twin Cities and the National Association of Home Builders

MINNEAPOLIS, MN – January, 13, 2014 – Jim Kuiken, Jim Kuiken Design, received double honors recently when he was elected to the Board of Directors of the Builders Association of the Twin Cities (BATC), and appointed to the National Association of Home Builders Board of Directors as one of a dozen industry individuals representing BATC, beginning in June 2014.

Kuiken’s BATC leadership has been well demonstrated in the last several years. He was elected as Chair of the BATC Parade of HomesSM Committee in 2013, and is a member of the association’s Awards Committee. The Parade of Homes is the largest revenue producer for BATC, and it is the largest such event in the country as well as one of the best-known and respected local brands in the Twin Cities.

He participated in the development of a Strategic Plan for BATC in 2013.  As a member of BATC’s Board of Directors, he will continue to steer direction for the association, assisting member businesses succeed through marketing, advocacy and industry connections.  The NAHB, a Washington, D.C.- based trade association, has more than 140,000 members nationwide, and has been “the voice of America’s housing industry” since the 1940s.

Kuiken, who specializes in architectural planning and interior design, has won multiple top awards for his outstanding design. He was a recipient of “Best of Houzz” in 2012 and 2013. With Accent Homes, he has won numerous BATC peer-judged awards for Parade of Homes models since 2006, and a Remodelers Showcase award in 2000.

Kuiken earned a Certified Aging in Place Specialist (CAPS) designation 2012, a course developed by NAHB and AARP to help homeowners remain in their homes safely, comfortably and independently as they age. He is MN GreenStar-Certified, is a member of the American Society of Interior Design (ASID), and holds a professional real estate license.
